Finnebrogue’s Bad Dog Sponsors Born 2 Run

07/07/2017

Downpatrick based Finnebrogue Artisan are set to sponsor Born2Run’s largest race of the season, Sea 2 Sky with post-race Bad Dog hot dogs.

The annual 10k and 5k race will challenge runners in a mix of road and track before heading up the foothills of the Mourne Mountains. Throughout the course participants will be rewarded with stunning views over Newcastle and beyond before descending to the finish on Newcastle’s award winning promenade. Each finisher will then receive a medal, water and delicious Bad Dog hot dog.

Crafted by artisan sausage producer Finnebrogue, Bad Dog hot dogs were inspired by their New York counterparts. They’re deliciously flavoursome, full of succulence, with a smoky New York seasoning. Using only whole cuts of pork shoulder and belly, the meat is then chopped to get the beautifully silky smooth characteristic and ‘snap’ synonymous with the traditional frankfurter/hot dog.

Speaking of the sponsorship, Sean Looby, Finnebrogue’s Commercial Brand Manager said;

“At Finnebrogue our team often participate in Born 2 Run races so we’re all too aware of how hungry runners can be after completing such a race. The Sea2Sky setting in Newcastle offers the perfect opportunity for a finish line barbecue and we are more than happy to help make this happen by providing a Bad Dog hot dog for each runner on the finish line.”

“We scoured the USA for the best dogs, were we met and collaborated with New York’s master butcher, Paul Piccinini. We ate through New York’s most coveted hot dog joints which created the vibe for the extensive work that followed creating that unique prime New York dog flavour and hot dog snap! Only prime cuts of meat go into our Bad Dogs,” added Sean.
